Kebab Gali – Pocket friendly veg and non veg food at Vasant Kunj, New Delhi
It was a Saturday noon and I was in Vasant square Mall with my friends. We all don’t eat non veg during navratras and looking for a decent place for veg lunch. One of my friend Shubhneet Jain who is vegetarian and often comes to this Mall has suggested us to visit Kebab Gali for good veg meal and his suggestion went well. Located on the ground floor of the mall, it was not difficult to find the Kebab Gali. Located just next to Big Bazar on the ground floor.
The decor of this restaurant is really good. It has space to accommodate around 20-25 guests. They are using steel crockery and really liked the glasses and plates. Sitting was very comfortable too.
Service was quick. Servers was well dressed, well spoken and took directions really well.
Beautifully served 5 bottles of different drinks. Nice bottles. We have tried following:
Meethi Lassi – This is a kind of Punjabi lassi for me. Taste was like home style. Lassi was thick and well prepared. You will get a good feeling with first sip that you are not having heavy to digest lassi.
Chaach – I licked it. It was well prepared and better than of Mother’ dairy or amul chaach.
Lemon drink – It was average. It was referring but not that good.
Aam Panna – Well prepared. I liked it very much.
Jal Jeera – This was average. Not liked it much.
In veg snacks we have tried following:
Stuff Mushroom – Not so beautifully presented like the other snacks they have served but I really liked the taste. Mushroom pieces was very well prepared, soft and got melted on my tongue quickly. (RECOMMEND)
Dahi Kebab – Beautifully presented on a wooden serving plate with veggies. Dahi kebab taste was awesome. I loved it. (RECOMMEND)
Shikampuri Kebab – Beautifully presented. I never had such snacks before and it was very soft and cooked well. Taste wise it was average.
Paneer Tikka – Beautifully presented. Tikka was average and nothing special to share about it.
Achari Aloo – Generally I don’t like aloo chat kind of stuff but this was presented really well and I liked it.
Galauti Kebab – Loved it. Very very soft pieces of Kebab on sweet crispy sweet paranthi. Liked the presentation and taste. (RECOMMEND)
Now comes to the main course, tried following:
Dal Makhani – It was good and served in a small steel bucket.
Achari Paneer – Served in home style pickle jar. This is something I never tried before. It was looking like shahi paneer but taste wise it wasn’t. You will get the flavor of pickle in this dish. If you love having pickles, this is for you.
Shahi paneer – Well prepared and taste was good.
Meerchi Parantha – Not so spicy. If you like crispy Parantha and spicy food then stuff is for you. This goes really well with dal Makhani. (RECOMMEND).
Aloo Naan – Didn’t liked it. Naan needs to be bit crispy something like Amritsari naan but was very dull.
Butter Naan – Average stuff. Nothing special to share about.
Biryani – Served beautifully in matki with raita. Perfectly cooked and I liked it.
In desserts, tried following:
Cheeni Parantha – Didn’t liked it at all. This dessert have great scope of improvement.
Gulab Jamun – Typical gulab jamun. Taste was good.
Phirni – Loved it. Generally I do not get yum stuff but I really liked it.
Things I didn’t liked was:
Paneer – I feel that there is a scope to have better cheese to use for paneer tikka and main course dishes. Paneer was not so soft.
Onion – Quality of onion was good but Very bitter in taste. They should look into to improve this.
“Atlast, if you looking for a pocket friendly restro or take away joint, which serves quality food then Kebab Gali is the place for you.”
